Edmonds Felony and Misdemeanor Lawyers
Here in Washington, crimes are categorized into three types: misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, and felonies. Whatever you’re charged with, call us today and we can tell you the consequences of the charge.
Misdemeanors
Misdemeanors are the least serious crimes.
Misdemeanors carry up to 90 days in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.
A good example of a misdemeanor is driving on a suspended license 3rd degree, or disorderly conduct.
Gross Misdemeanors
Gross misdemeanors offenses carry up to 364 days in jail and/or a $5,000 fine.
For both misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors, the court, upon a conviction, can impose a term of probation of up to 2 years (up to 5 years for certain offenses).
An example of a gross misdemeanor is Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Theft 3rd Degree or Assault 4th Degree – Domestic Violence (DV).
Felonies
A felony is a more serious offense and is usually broken down into three classes A, B, and C.
Class C is the least serious, and includes offenses like Possession of Stolen Property or Violation of a No Contact Order.
Class B felonies are more serious and usually involve more than simple crimes against property. Some common examples of Class B felonies are Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Vehicular Assault, or Residential Burglary.
Class A felonies are reserved for the most serious offenses under Washington law, and normally involve violence or sex offenses, such as Robbery 1st Degree, Rape, or Vehicular Homicide. As you might expect, the penalties for the most serious felonies are substantial and can be life-altering.

Conom Law Firm Criminal Defense Client Reviews

Mr. Conom fought for me…
I had Mr. Derek Conom represent me in a major case of identity theft. 4 counties and the Feds all wanted to give me time with consecutive sentences, so I was looking at 20-30 years behind bars. I thought my life was over and almost gave up. Mr Conom fought for me and in the end I came away with a 65 month sentence. What impressed me most was how much he actually cared about what happened to me. He knew I was a good person who got caught up in the wrong world. I served my time and since release I’ve bought a home and own a business. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I have in life now without the fight he put up on my behalf. Hire him and pay this man he does his job.

He got it all dismissed.
Derek got me out of the case I’ve been dealing with for the past 6 years. I would not take a plea bargain because I know deep down in my heart that I’m innocent. I’ve gone thru 3 public defenders and Derek Conom would be the last one I will ever have for this case and with his willingness to help not just me but I’m sure a lot of people out there he’s determined and all the hard work he put into my case, he got it all dismissed. Amazing fella and recommend it definitely will save your life give you the freedoms you deserve
